How does your media product represent particular social groups? Continued

I have choosen a picture of 'The Veronicas'. The reason I have chose these is because they are most similar to my female duo artists. There are very few female duo's, and the style which I would like my audience to embrace would be the same kind of style as The Veronicas. The people in these images are all white and I would say, of a middle class at least. I think there are many features in this photo which show that. Both of these photos are mid-shots of the artists, I choose to have a mid-shot because you still get a close enough image of the faces, yet you get the whole image of their posture as well. In both images, the postures of the artists are quite pose-y and show they have full control of the image. Although in the image of 'The Veronicas', both of the females are smiling, and in my image, they have a much more neutral expression, yet both have the same connatation and give the same vibe of being cool and in control, almost like 'they don't care' attitude. The clothing style is different for both of them, 'The Veronicas' have darker coloured clothes which kind of shows a dark side to them, whereas in my image they have brighter coloured clothes which shows maybe a more 'playful' side to them. The style which they both embrace is quite messy and looks 'not put together', but this has a completely opposite effect of looking effortlessly stylish. I think my audience would appriciate that.

I am representing severeal different social groups with my magazine. I think the demographics of my magazine looks at specifically the age group of about 15 - 29. I choose this because they are quite young, and would all have similar tastes and broad range of lifestyle. I think people who read my magazine would definitly enjoy having a busy social life, this is why I choose to look at this age range. I don't have a specific gender, I would have like my magazine to appeal to both male and female genders, therefore within the magazine I have included things that I found would appeal to both genders. On my cover, although I used two female models, I found this would appeal to both genders as they both look friendly and approachable. I also included some conventions such as the cover line and smaller pieces of information and made sure if included topics which would appeal to both. Regarding regionalitly, I don't particular have a specific one that I would appeal too. I think it would really depend on class. For example, I would think a lot of Londoners would read my kind of magazine because the one of the stereotype of Londoners is they are quite celebrity driven and normally, because they would be a higher class then say someone from the working class North, they would have the money to spend on the magazine and kinds of products which would be assisoated. But in general, I think as music reaches all regions around the country and all over the world, so I think it would be hard to specify certain regions. Another thing I haven't specified is marital status, I think as my audience are quite young, not many would be married. Many may have partners, but I think in general my target audience would mostly single who enjoy having a social life. Social classes is a big point which all magazines have to take into account. I think my magazine personally would look more at middle class and upper working class, in particular I think I would include the classes B, C1 and C2.

When looking at pyscographics for my magazine, I think my magazine could look at 3 different groups from different aspects. I think Mainstreamers would be one that my magazine would appeal to. I think this because one of the aspects in my magazine is gossip and music. Gossip would definitly be mainstream as it is all around us every day, so would appeal to many people. My magazine has two different types of music which I would look at is the more mainstream modern artists, which appeals to my mainstreamers and 'New and Upcoming Artists', as these would be quite unknown, this aspect would appeal to the 'Individuals' kind of pyscographic because these artists wouldn't be very popular, which is what the 'Individuals' would like to steer cleer of. Aspirers are another aspect of my magazine, I think they would read my kind of magazine because I would include a lot of luxury styled stories, which would include gossip of celebrities and advertise the type of products which Aspirers would want to gain. Aspirers aspire to have a more luxury lifestyle then they currently have and I would like to think my magazine could offer it to them.

I think my magazine has a very pro-consumeriest emphasis on it is style, this means I have stuck to typical steroetypes and have a very wide audience. Because I haven't specifically labeled my music magazine as a niche music genre, I feel like I have appealed to many of the 15-29 year olds in the UK.
